Restore the Camano City Schoolhouse Bell Tower
Since the Schoolhouse was purchased in 2012, volunteers have been actively restoring the historic one-room schoolhouse on Camano Island’s west side. In 2014, a local church returned the original bell that had been lost for decades. Since then, one of the goals of our non-profit has been to restore the school bell tower on the Schoolhouse in order to ring the bell again. A local architect volunteered to design the bell tower to its original design using a photograph from the early 1900s.
Adding the school bell is part of an ongoing restoration, much of which has been donated, and includes uncovering the original blackboards from layers of paint, painting the exterior, refinishing the fir floors, adding a new heating and air conditioning system, improving the parking lot and updating the wiring and light fixtures.
