Community Resource Center
The Community Resource Center has had to postpone a spring fundraising event and has had to close the used bookstore during this time, both creating an immediate loss of revenue. For families and individuals who are economically vulnerable, marginalized or lacking a support network COVID-19 can be devastating. Individuals and families are beginning to lose employment, starting to feel the impact of working without pay due to illness and struggling to make ends meet with no childcare now that schools are forced to close.
COVID-19 has rapidly changed everything for the Center. We know more people are being financially impacted by this crisis but how many and how much financial assistance will they need – we don’t yet know. What we do know is that any significant increase is one that we aren’t prepared for and threatens the Center’s vision that our community should thrive. We estimate our financial shortfall will be $16,500 per month until normal operations can resume.
Suspended Services:The Community Resource Center has had to suspend all services, programs, workshops, events, support groups, classes, and meetings, including our used bookstore to ensure the health and safety of our participants, volunteers and staff. Our agency serves many different vulnerable populations and it was determined the risk was to great to remain open in a traditional sense, however staff are getting creative with technology to find ways to continue to connect and engage our community during our closure. Ongoing Services:The Community Resource Center is still providing essential needs and crisis services to families and individuals living in our community during this critical time. We are open with limited hours, scheduling appointments and utilizing technology to ensure families and individuals are connecting to vital resources and financial assistance if they have been impacted by COVID-19.
