Parents are young children’s first and most important educators. Research into brain development shows that the interactions between parents and their children at an early age is a predictor of life long health, learning, and behavior, preparing them for school. Playing with young children using educational toys is a great way for parents to teach basic math, colors, shapes, letters, words, and at the same time build their brains and develop their critical thinking skills.  Strong positive relationships are very important to young children and encouraging busy families on low incomes to take the time to play productively with their children will not only benefit families but the community as a whole.
