Restore Stanwood’s Historic Floyd Norgaard Center
In the early 2000s, Floyd Norgaard helped the Society purchase the 1902 Public Hall and restore it. Now we need to refinish the hardwood floors, repair the North wall and ultimately re-roof and repaint the structure. We will begin the project with a Swedish floor finish that is harder than wax and polyurethane and therefore less susceptible to scratches and stains. We hold many public events each year and we also offer the Floyd Norgaard Cultural Center as a rental for weddings, funerals, parties, festivals, meetings and educational opportunities. These rentals are a source of income for the Society, which is necessary since we receive no public funding from any government entity. We are also pursuing grants and legislative solutions.
